Cathy and Julie from Dog's Trust

8th Oct 2021

We had a visit from 2 ladies from the Dog's Trust today. They told us all about staying safe around dogs and taught us some rules to remember so that we are happy and the dogs are happy too.

'If a dog is resting, we should leave it alone.

If a dog is eating, we should leave it alone.

If a dog is playing, tell an adult.

Dogs don't like hugs, they prefer gentle strokes.

The ladies said we were the best class they had been with! Well done Primary 4.

If a dog runs up to you and you don't want to play, stand still, turn your head away and tuck your hands to show you are not playing. Then the dog will get bored and leave you alone.'

Great advice which we can remember in a fun way.
